last night, my friend sam imed me- "i think i like rudy giuliani." she would. today the ny times says he is starting to sound like he will be a presidential contender in 2008. and then he said this: “When I say to you that we should reduce taxes to stimulate the economy, I’ll say it to you because I did it and I saw it work,” he said. “When I say we have to bring peace and security as sort of the beginning of anything, whether it’s in Baghdad or in other parts of the world or here at home, I’ll say that to you because I saw that happen in New York, and I made it happen. I did it.” does he really think nyc was as bad as baghdad? even comparable? he changed nyc employing the broken windows theory, a theory that while has been shown to work in many cities in the united states, is highly social. it requires an entire community to be united in the quest to better their communities. clearly social structure is VERY different in baghdad. is iraq united at all? will this work? hmm, kind of like democracy. not to mention how facist the system really is, putting people in jail for simply violating their communities social norms and imposing high penalties on small crimes. do we really want to extend our overcrowded prison population problem overseas? rudy giuliani would just be giving iraqi people the some problems we have.
